Training for a Triathlon


One day prior to any Ironman race, thousands of athletes sign up to register for the competition for the next year. The committee is requesting people to train themselves one year in advance. Scheduling at a very early time is very important to succeed in the contest, preparation requires the competitors to do physical and mental challenges for 12 months.


Many people even go through 3 years of training to win their ambitious Ironman dream, steadily increasing their skills from running, cycling, swimming and so on. If such efforts result to accomplishments, is plays a significant part of the sport's satisfaction. With this in consideration, there are many useful tips and advice to help the competitor reach his/her goals.


The first advice for Endurance Training is to choose a reachable goal or target that is constructed based on your actual training schedule. Triathlon coaches can set a 12-month calendar to identify the ideal schedule to dedicate your training. This means balancing family, work, adjusting to seasonal and weather conditions, and so on. Once this has been set, the racing calendar is then finalized.


There are cases when the athlete should adapt to his/her children's school schedule, especially if the spring season is approaching, and that it is the most intensive and lengthiest training blocks for the marathon.


For other competitors, summer racing activities may be the ideal season because of its adequate weather conditions and long day intervals. On the other hand, those who reside in hot summer conditions may choose an earlier time to devote themselves for training, they may opt to select early spring races to encourage themselves to practice through the winter season and then elevate the Endurance Training up during the cool spring months. Ultimately, identify when you have the most optimum time to train longer and harder for a couple of months first, then select the race that you want.


If you are unable to be included into your the Ironman race in your vicinity this year, or even the closest race date that does not coincide with your convenient race date, you may take the race as a learning opportunity. You can opt to become a race volunteer, this way, it is a great opportunity to scout the tracks, and if you have zero experience in Ironman, you can assess the event. Be knowledgeable about the course and transition schemes, and try to see how motivated the other races are.


Secondly, register for the Ironman contest that you want, you may need to develop a deeper basic experience. The best experience can range from 2 to 3 years. It takes time for the body to develop to new wear and tear without the risk in developing injury.


Thirdly, do more scheduling to grow faster and pace your race. Be cautious, multiple competitions in a year can be very stressful. The best thing to do is to strike a good balance between family, work, and training.
